Prince Edward Hall

This thoroughly modern black box of Indian Black granite is the new entrance to the University of Hertfordshire’s campus in the centre of High Wycombe.

Over 400 square metres of granite were used for cladding both externally and internally. The external cladding features Indian Black in a honed finish whilst a polished finish was used internally.

The monolithic structure is softened by oak recesses and glazed slots in the side of the building which provide sheltered areas of seating.

The building designed by Vincent and Gorbing architects won the RIBA East Award in 2015
